Expert is a professional environmental consulting firm that provides site assessment, site investigation, environmental remediation and comprehensive environmental consulting to assist clients in managing and removing hazardous materials. Our services include: wastewater discharge sampling, waste profiling, hazardous waste disposal, air permit preparation, phase I and II site assessments, and unexploded ordnance identification. However, EXPERT specializes in sick building diagnosis, air monitoring, radon testing, asbestos testing, mold testing, lead testing, biological testing, noise surveying, and ergonomic study. My goal is to develop EXPERT into a multinational environmental engineering firm.

Masters degree in industrial hygiene and MBA so have done applied science coursework and business coursework. And there’s two sides technical side and business side that requires technical skills. I have meandered my way through both sides of the professional spectrum—you almost have to. Of course, I still have continuing education. Some of my training requires refresher training annually. Always taking training courses one or another. Latest technical changes in rules and regulations heavily regulated. EPA, Missouri Dept. Natural Resources.
I didn’t have any problems getting certified, with city and state. Swiftly, mainly in business already and had a track record. So it went fairly quickly. Submit paper work tax returns and things, experience, work that I’d done. List of clients and things previously. Standard stuff. Wasn’t too bad. With city took 2 months to get certified. With 8(a) went quicker than I thought it would, about 3 months. A lot quicker than usual. I’ve spoken with colleagues took 8 months. Political requirement at time. Trying to increase before election. Notable difference in short process. I did hard copy.
It has made ma slightly more marketable. I always had market my business as if no certification. Showed level of experience. Cert. Was gravy. Getting the work. Always sort of pet peeve in terms of marketing clients. Hold off and show actual qualifications and background. Typically they will ask. Mbe, 8a?. It has increased type of businesses that gotten.
I research my clients. My industry relationship driven. Research clients and cold calls. Start from top and work my way down. Appropriate person. Start from president and chairman office and work way down procurement dept. and I also market two or three people not just one person within business.
Was a client, causal type of mentoring and evolved into rigorous relationship. He would bounce questions off me and challenge me to grow my firm. And additionally, my father, he was in business and also served greatest mentor in terms of helping me grow my confidence.
Usually, somewhat similar with relationship with my casual. Not formal program, the causal evolved into mentor-protégé relationship, they would call for support or advice. We meet either once a quarter or sometimes once a month.
