Freeman Packaging views its clients not just as customers, but as partners. That’s because the four-year-old company collaborates with its clients to solve their problems and improve their bottom line.

“It is our firm belief that if we help our customers succeed, our success will come as a by-product,” said owner Ron Freeman.
The company provides custom packaging services and sells office and maintenance supplies. Freeman Packaging also provides labeling services for private and generic labeled bottle water.

The company got its start in 1999 with Union Pacific Railroad, by offering cost savings on the transportation company’s packaging needs. Freeman said hard work and ingenuity helped him overcome the initial challenge of being a start-up company. Despite the early challenges, the partnership has paid off both for Freeman Packaging and Union Pacific.

“We have successfully brought them savings, with quality products, every year,” Freeman said.

The company is certified with the Minority Supplier Council of Kansas City. Freeman said the difficulties in obtaining certification were minimal because the council provided help and support through the certification process.

Freeman has taken advantage of networking opportunities through the council and other organizations.

“The Council, the Missouri Procurement Assistance Center, GSA and other organizations sponsor activities on a regular basis,” Freeman said. “They provide excellent opportunities to build relationships and create opportunities for commerce.”
