Leisure & Lemonade Be sure to enjoy the true profits of business
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time. ~ John Lubbock 1834-1913, English banker, statesman, and naturalist. Are you a person who just can't relax on that family vacation because you can feel the e-mails and voicemails piling up? Do you look more at the added work that will await you after vacation instead of the actual "work-value" vacation can have if you JUST LET IT!
You see, there is a time for selling, managing, accounting, planning and delivering. And there is also a time to enjoy all the returns that those business things give you. It seems to me that we were not put on this Earth just to increase the profits of our business, but to thoroughly enjoy the profits of life. And while the profits of business often allow us to enjoy the profits of life, those earnings go wasted if they are not spent enjoying the great things life can be. So let's take the time to ENJOY what we have earned this week. Grab a lemonade, find a tree and watch the clouds float across the sky. It will be then that you realize what work is all about. |
