"The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug." ~ Mark Twain

"I can't believe I just said that!" If you have ever said something in a business meeting or personal conversation that didn't come out like it was supposed to, then congratulations—you are officially human. If you find yourself doing this way too often, it's time to become PRECISE.

The definition of PRECISE is "the quality of being sharply defined or stated." So how do we become sharply defined and stated?  One word...PREPARATION.

You see, we often use too many "almost right words" during that important conversation (business or personal) because we didn't take enough time before to think about:

·         What we hope to accomplish
·         How we will "disarm" the other person or people so they open up more
·         What questions we are going to ask
·         What we will say if they say, "______________."

So this week, before EVERY meeting or important conversation, make sure you have thought about and answered those questions.  And you will be impressed with just how easy it is to replace those "almost right words" with "consistently right words." Do this, and you have become PRECISE.
