7/19/07: Prosperity You Love to Hate? |

"The trick is to make sure you don't die, waiting for prosperity to come." Lee Iacocca
As I watched a late night news show before crawling into bed the other night, the topic of Katie Couric’s fat CBS contract was being discussed. In response to a previous show discussing Katie, one viewer wrote in an e-mail, “The reason I hate Katie is because she makes $15 million a year.”
I turned to my wife and said, “That viewer doesn’t have a chance in hell of ever being financially prosperous.”
Why?
First, I think it is tough to ever be a top performer (which often brings financial prosperity), if you use the word HATE and $15 million in the same sentence. But why is it that we are often jealous of those who have more money than us? Is it because it is easier to bring them down rather than do the painful work that it often takes to get to the top? So this week, while the negative few wait for prosperity to drop in their lap, take 15 minutes to think of some creative, risky, hard working actions that will send you on your way to being the next Lee Iacocca. And I promise, I won’t hate you when you get there. Have a super week! Brian Sullivan is the author of 20 Days to the Top. You can reach him via the Web at www.preciseselling.com. |
