Furniture Dealer Launches Non-Profit Extreme Makeover
Team Office (Class of 2003) is partnering with other local companies to launch Extreme Office Makeover: Nonprofit Edition, which is similar to ABC’s television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The project will focus on remodeling a non-profit agency in the metropolitan area. Applications including photos and/or video of the nominee’s office spaces will be accepted through October 31. The project will take place during the holiday season and will consist mainly of cosmetic changes provided by AB Bradley Construction, upgrades in telephone systems by Batts Communications Services and upgrades in furniture by Team Office. Remodeling Company Wins Award
Steed Remodeling (Class of 2003) has won the Kansas City Homes and Gardens magazine’s Gold Award for Best Master Suite Remodel. This is the second year in a row that Steed has one of the magazine’s awards of excellence in residential remodeling.
Internet Company Expands
Netchemia (Class of 2004) is providing its netIEP special education management software to Cooperative Association for Special Education and North DuPage Special Education Cooperative, both located just northwest of Chicago. This award comes shortly after a similar contract to Cooperative Association for Special Education, laying a foundation for additional expansion in the state.
Sandwich Shop Adds Location in Lawrence
Jimmy John’s sandwich shop has opened its newest Lawrence location at 601 Kasold. The store is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Matt Brane and Jeff Johnson of Bushwood Investments own the store, as well as three others in Kansas. They plan to open several more in Kansas City, Topeka and Wichita.

Learning Center Serves KC Students

Trisha Klaus has opened Off the Vine Design at 135th and Metcalf Ave. The store is part wine and beer cellar and part home décor store. The wine cellar offers selections from around the world, including smaller vineyard and boutique wines. Aside from domestic wines, customers will find wines from Australia, Europe, South Africa and South America. The store also offers an international collection of beers. Local Entrepreneur Wins Design Award
Lisa Stenson of Olathe-based Bon Vivant Gift Solutions won third place for Design Excellence at the gift basket industry’s annual convention, The Basket Connection. Business owners from 35 states, Jamaica, Canada and the Virgin Islands competed for awards in five categories. Stenson’s entry was recognized out of more than 100 entries in the “Name That Business Corporate Gifts” category.
Bank Expands Gladstone Branch

The partnership will allow Clear Identity to offer its clients a broader array of services. It also provides access to Summit’s expertise in sales promotion, direct marketing, promotional products and recognition and incentives.
Handmark Raises $5 Million in Funding
Handmark has closed a $5 million round of funding. Handmark creates and delivers access to news, references and infotainment content on cellphones and other wireless handheld devices. Handmark will use the new funds to expand its marketing and development resources as the company launches its Pocket Express content publishing platform on more devices and in new markets in North America and Europe.
Limousine Service Serves KC
Clique Limousine & Concierge Service is now available in the Kansas City area. The business targets people planning a wide variety of events, including weddings, proms, birthdays, gambling trips and bachelor and bachelorette parties. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and serves the entire greater Kansas City area.
